Job Summary:

The Viral Research Associate will be a key member of the team charged with investigating viral vector approaches to gene transfer in a mouse model, specifically developing viral systems to drive expression in the gastrointestinal tract as part of our platform investigating the gut-brain axis. Candidates must have previous experience in molecular biology and viral manufacture and injection. Successful candidates must be able to work effectively both in a collaborative setting and independently and possess outstanding written, visual and oral communications skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In vivo viral infection of gut
  • Histological processing of gut tissue
  • Image acquisition of tissue specimens
  • Design and construction of novel viral vectors

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

You must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology
  • Experience working with mouse experimental models
  • Experience working with viruses
  • Experience with histology
  • Experience with basic cloning techniques (restriction based cloning, PCR amplification)

Additional preferred experience includes:

  • Experience producing different viruses (AAV, lenti)
  • Experience working with gut issue
  • Experience working in neuroscience
  • Advanced cloning skills (SLIC, GoldenGate, Gibson)
