Job Summary:
The Viral Research Associate will be a key member of the team charged with investigating viral vector approaches to gene transfer in a mouse model, specifically developing viral systems to drive expression in the gastrointestinal tract as part of our platform investigating the gut-brain axis. Candidates must have previous experience in molecular biology and viral manufacture and injection. Successful candidates must be able to work effectively both in a collaborative setting and independently and possess outstanding written, visual and oral communications skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- In vivo viral infection of gut
- Histological processing of gut tissue
- Image acquisition of tissue specimens
- Design and construction of novel viral vectors
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
You must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology
- Experience working with mouse experimental models
- Experience working with viruses
- Experience with histology
- Experience with basic cloning techniques (restriction based cloning, PCR amplification)
Additional preferred experience includes:
- Experience producing different viruses (AAV, lenti)
- Experience working with gut issue
- Experience working in neuroscience
- Advanced cloning skills (SLIC, GoldenGate, Gibson)
